BENITACHELL

The tranquil, pretty town of Benitachell lies slightly inland between Javea and Teulada. Originally an Arab outpost the town has, over the generations, learnt how to conserve its flavour of authenticity and maintain its simplicity. The stunning coastline is formed by a succession of cliffs rising more than 100 metres high, like the Puig Lorensa, which descend vertically into the crystal waters of the Mediterranean. There are almost inaccessable coves such as the Cova dels Arcs and Cala dels Tesols where, in former times, the fisherman used to gather their catch whilst hanging from the cliffs.

Tradition is still very important here with the vineyards bursting with plump moscatel grapes harvested not only for their fruit but also for raisins, the famous fortified moscatel and local wines. In short Benitachell is ideal for those looking for somewhere to live a peaceful existance whilst still being close enough to the beaches and the hustle and bustle of Moraira and Javea.
